 Banquet

One of our younger members, Kirstie Buerkley, has been named to receive the Junior Exhibitor/Youth Award from the American Hackney Horse Association.  This honor is "awarded to a junior exhibitor who through her efforts has encouraged other youths to participate in the Hackney breed.  This individual must exhibit outstanding sportsmanship, suitability to the division in which they participate, presentation of the entries shown and work to enhance the promotion of the breed through their representation."  Ms. Buerkley will receive her award at the AHHS National Awards Winners Banquet on January 8, 2009 in Hilton Head Island, NC.  Young Ms. Buerkley drove her road pony Dun-Haven Grandiose to the 2007 and 2008 Junior Exhibitor Road Pony 13 and Under World Championship.  Her latest achievement came at the American Royal in Kansas City, MO with a victory in the AHHS Road Pony 13 and Under Medallion class.  Congratulations to Kirstie!

SOUTHERN STATES SPECIAL HORSE ORGANIZATION WINNER'S PROGRAM

The S.H.O.W. Program is an opportunity for nonprofit horse associations like the South Central Hackney Association in Southern States market territories to earn funds for special events.  The SCHA special event is the SCHA Garnett and Aldina Wood Memorial Junior Road Pony Champion held at the Alexandria Fair and Horse Show.  The Southern States S.H.O.W. program helps to fund the premium for this class.  SCHA is awarded a credit of 25 cents for each eligible proof of purchase except Reliance products which will be 10 cents per proof of purchase.  In order to maximize the prize money offered in this class, please save your proof of purchases from Southern States feed.  Ron Burcham is our designated representative to collect and submit the proofs of purchase.  The more proofs of purchase we turn in, the greater the Junior Road Pony premium.
